Backend Engineer - AI Trainer

AfterQuery is seeking Backend Engineer Experts to build and evaluate the backend services, data modeling, and API design scenarios that frontier AI labs use to test model judgment. In this remote, asynchronous role you will design realistic engineering problems, review how models reason through them, and give detailed feedback that makes the resulting training data trustworthy.

Responsibilities

• Design challenging, realistic backend services, data modeling, and API design tasks drawn from production practice
• Evaluate model responses for correctness, sound reasoning, and subtle failure modes
• Document your reasoning clearly so another engineer can audit the judgement

Required Qualifications

• Senior-level professional experience building backend services in production
• Strong SQL and schema design, plus caching and queueing patterns
• Track record owning service reliability and performance
